Marsch ‘disappointed’ by Tuchel verdict

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will be permitted to lead his players from the touchline at Elland Road on Sunday, despite receiving a touchline ban.

The FA have charged the German with improper conduct after a scrap with Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte after the final whistle last weekend led to both managers being shown red cards.

Tuchel has been fined £35,000 and received a one-game touchline – but the sanctions are subject to appeal, meaning the ban is suspended until the process is complete.

Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch, speaking at a pre-match press conference before the verdict had been published, will not be pleased to see Tuchel with his bench.

"I would be disappointed if they allowed him to be on the bench,” Marsch said.

"There's a simple rule in football, whether it's soccer, football - I think if you get a red card, you can't play the next match.”

Young Whites extend unbeaten run

Leeds United under 21s extended their unbeaten start to the Premier League 2 Division 2 campaign to three games with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Friday evening.

Summer signing Sonny Perkins brought his season tally up to four goals – trailing teammate Mateo Joseph by one – with a pair of impressive strikes, one in each half.

The latter goal came as sweet relief for Joseph, whose saved penalty meant Leeds went into the break level following an equaliser by Villa defender Josh Feeney.

Victory took the Whites up to second place in the league table, trailing leaders Southampton by two points.
